Replacing gutters with a new roof

If your roof is being replaced, it is the ideal time for new gutters. The drip edge and the first courses of shingles are new, the fascia is exposed, and the gutter installer can hang the new system without working around old flashing. Coordinate the two jobs so the gutters go up right after the roof is finished.

Check the fascia first

New gutters are only as strong as the board they hang on. A good installer checks the fascia for soft or rotted spots and replaces damaged sections before hanging the new gutters.
